On 09 October 2009 members of Flotilla 4-2 participated in the Fire Prevention Week Open House held by the Springfield Fire Company. The Flotilla had a table top booth and distributed numerous boating safety, Waterway Watch, and environmental protection brochures along with material for children. Booth material including roll-up posters and table covers were obtained from the District's Outreach Innovation Center. Also obtained from the Center was the PFD Panda outfit that was worn by R. Sims - a huge hit with the kids. The other members of the Flotilla who manned the exhibit were G. Bentley, FC; K. Eltz, FVC; S. Brattini, FSO-PA; J. O'Rourke and D. Wesler. The Flotilla was invited by the Fire Company to participate at the event again next year and interest in our participation in future events was explored by other County Companies.
